The Dragons Abreast National Regatta 2016 was held on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June 2016 at Lake Kawana on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Wow, what an incredibly successful Regatta!!!
Dragons Abreast Australia members - you should be very proud of yourselves!!! Not only did you do some incredible paddling but you displayed in abundance what Dragons Abreast is all about!!! The DAA philosophy of "Awareness, Participation and Inclusiveness" was on show for everyone to see.
The weather gods were very kind to us and we enjoyed perfect on water conditions. We also 'enjoyed' some fierce competition from our amazing New Zealand neighbours - CanSurvive Dragon Boat Team from beautiful Wellington. Thank you for coming to paddle with us!!!
Of course, when you have around 500 amazing fun loving people in one place there has to be some fantastic photos!!! Use the links below to view some of the fun....
- Day Two
- More photos (from Groups)..... (this album will continue to be updated with photos submitted to the office)
Thank you to Leigh and Bern Muldoon for being our official photographers over the weekend.
Following is some feedback we have received from attendees -
"Wow, what an experience!! I don't think I have ever been witness to so much love, support, fun, determination, kindness, excitement, camaraderie and pure joy in one place at the one time. It definitely was a celebration of life."
"I could not fault a thing and I had an absolute ball (I am sure you could tell!). I know the work that goes into events such as these and you all ought to be delighted with the result and the extensive feedback I have heard so far has been nothing short of excellent with the common theme being ‘we must support DAA, for not just us but, for those women and men yet to be diagnosed’. If it wasn’t for DAA I would not have so many beautiful friends all around the country and the world and I’ve said it before and I will say it again, ‘DAA gave me my life back.'"
".... what an amazing 2 days!! culminating in a wonderful gala dinner. We could have sat and listened and laughed with Robyn Moore for hours....but then we did need time to show off our dancing skills
Don't forget to share your experiences of the Regatta with those that may be just starting on their breast cancer survival journey, to show them of the positive, joyful opportunities that being a part Dragons Abreast Australia can provide.
