Gina Beauchamp Peninsula
About Gina Beauchamp
A founding member of Dragons Abreast Peninsula Dragonflys, started in 2006 and Gina was there to help get us up and running.
Even though she had a fear of water she always sat in bench 2 behind me because she said I would save her if we capsized.
Gina had a long and continuous battle with cancer which precluded her paddling, but that did not stop her from helping in all the club fundraising, merchandise stalls, Pink Lunches, Pink Film nights, Pink Art Shows and sausage sizzles.
Princess Gina would dress up in pink and purple and lots of dragonflies and spread the word of dragon boating with breast cancer or recovering after treatment.
Gina came onto the Committee and then moved to the position of Treasurer. Each Saturday at our training session she would come to the club, attend to the treasurers business then have a good chat and laugh with the members over coffee and cake. Gina had a great sense of humour and was loved by all.
Princess would come away with us to all the regattas and support us and sell merchandise, mix with everyone and cheer her beloved Dragonflys on with her loud “clacker”. In our races we would hear it and it always brought a smile which encouraged us to “dig deep”.
We can’t believe she has gone, Gina was never going to die, she was an incredibly brave woman, no matter what treatment she was having she would be there for the club and always say “see you next Saturday”.
We will miss our beautiful friend.
God bless you Gina.
