Dragons Abreast Australia
Uniting Breast Cancer Survivors Australia Wide!
Celebrating over 25 Years of Breast Cancer Recovery through the physical activity of Dragon Boating.
What is Dragons Abreast Australia All About?
-
Dragons Abreast Australia is a national charity uniting breast-cancer survivors (and their supporters) through the sport of dragon-boat paddling.
-
The organisation was established in Australia in 1998 in Australia.
-
Its primary purpose: help people recover physically and emotionally after breast cancer — through exercise, social support, community, and reconnecting to active life.
What We Do: Dragon-Boat Paddling & Support
-
Members (primarily survivors) paddle together — you don’t need prior dragon-boating experience or high fitness.
-
Paddling serves as low-impact but effective physical activity that helps with recovery, lymphatic function, and general wellbeing after breast-cancer treatment.
-
It also provides social support: a community of people with shared experiences, friendships, camaraderie, a sense of belonging.
-
Participation is inclusive: people of different ages, fitness levels, backgrounds - survivors or supporters - are welcome.
"Dragons Abreast might just have saved my life."
Help us continue to share our survivor stories by donating to DAA. We need your help to keep the boats afloat.
