Dragons Abreast Bendigo was established in 2002 by local breast cancer survivors and supporters. A preloved boat was kindly donated to us and after a refurbishment, training started on Lake Weeroona in November.
Since then, our club has been involved in many dragon boat regattas and other community events including trips to Adelaide, Darling Harbour, Geelong, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Tasmania. Participation in these festivals by our members is encouraged, but not compulsory. Our main aim is to have fun and try our best. At DAA’s 20th birthday in Sydney 2018, we all wore pink 20’s flapper dresses and were awarded ‘the best dressed team’.
It’s not all just dragon boating, we also enjoy other social get-togethers, such as walks around our beautiful lake, trips to the movies, attending the MCG pink lady event and weekends away. The camaraderie and long lasting friendships we have made have enriched our lives.
Come and have a try, all ages and fitness levels are welcome. A life-jacket, paddle and seat cushion are provided.
You will also need to obtain a Dragon Pass from the link on our website, this will give you a free 30 day unlimited trial and you will also be insured.
TESTIMONIALS
I have been with DA Bendigo for over 5 years and I love it. Everyone was welcoming and very friendly. I look forward to our paddling evenings and also to the social gatherings we have.
A supportive, fun and friendly group, I am very glad I joined. A great way to exercise, with a group of ladies who all share the same journey, whether it be as a cancer survivor or as a support person.
