About Sue Von Richter

Sue joined Dragons Abreast Brisbane in 2015 and made an immediate impact, quickly becoming an invaluable member of the community. In the past year, Sue transitioned to Redlands Sea Dragons, located on the southern edge of Brisbane. Her focus is on establishing new opportunities for breast cancer survivors to experience the empowering benefits of dragon boating, helping to grow the community and foster well-being.

In addition to her coaching and leadership roles, Sue brings a wealth of experience to committee work. With a professional background in accounting, IT, and business systems, she currently holds the positions of Public Officer and Finance Officer, contributing her extensive skills to ensure the organization’s continued success.

“Being part of Dragons Abreast Australia is something I am deeply passionate about. When health issues in 2020 threatened my ability to paddle, I became a coach because I still wanted to give back to those men and women who may one day face a diagnosis and find their way to dragon boating. Dragons Abreast Australia may have started with humble beginnings, but today it is part of a global movement, empowering us to show that there is life after a breast cancer diagnosis. Thanks to dragon boating, I am now fitter than I was 10 years ago, and it has truly transformed my life.”
