Meet Sharon, one of the dedicated Board Directors at Dragons Abreast Australia. A long-time paddler, sweep, and accredited coach, Sharon brings energy, experience, and heart to everything she does both on and off the water. Sharon is a proud advocate for breast cancer paddlers (BCP) and a passionate champion of strong BCP participation at regattas, ensuring survivor teams are visible, celebrated, and recognised for their courage, commitment, and resilience.

Sharon’s journey with dragon boating began after her breast cancer diagnosis at just 39. What started as a way to rebuild strength, confidence, and fitness after treatment quickly grew into a passion and deep connection to a community that has given her so much. Today, she is driven by a desire to give back to the community that has supported, inspired, and empowered her throughout her journey.

As a coach and sweep, Sharon loves helping paddlers of all levels find their rhythm, confidence, and strength in the boat. She is dedicated to creating opportunities for members to grow, thrive, and experience the empowerment that dragon boating brings, both locally and on the national stage. She also champions strong BCP representation at regattas, encouraging survivor teams to be visible, celebrated, and recognised for their achievements.

Off the water, Sharon is mum to one amazing daughter, whom she strives to inspire by living life fully, embrace challenges, and lead with purpose and kindness. An enthusiastic traveller, Sharon has paddled and connected with paddlers across Australia and around the world, spreading the message of Connect.Move.Live and sharing the strength of breast cancer survivor communities.

Through her board work, coaching, and personal example, Sharon continues to shape the future of Dragons Abreast Australia, helping ensure every survivor has the opportunity to reconnect with their strength, celebrate their achievements, and thrive within the supportive pink family she holds close to her heart.
