Welcome to Our Community

We are proudly part of Dragons Abreast Australia (DAA), a vibrant national community of breast cancer survivors — and some very special supporters — united by strength, friendship and a shared love of life on the water. Our paddlers come from all walks of life, ages, abilities and backgrounds, creating a wonderfully diverse and uplifting team environment where everyone is welcomed and supported.

Our team name is Missabittatitti (affectionately known as MBT), a name that reflects our spirit, resilience and sense of fun. We are also proud members of the Brisbane River Dragons Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe Club (BRD), the oldest dragon boat club in Brisbane, established in 1998. As part of BRD, we enjoy the perfect balance of being both competitive and social, training and racing throughout the year while staying connected to a strong and supportive paddling community.

Above all, we are an enthusiastic group of breast cancer survivors who truly embrace the positive impact of dragon boating. Through paddling, we rebuild strength, confidence and wellbeing, while forming lifelong friendships and supporting one another on and off the water. We paddle to celebrate life, raise awareness and show others that there can be strength, joy and a positive path forward after a breast cancer diagnosis — all while having fun, trying new things, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

Training Times

Saturday morning – 7.00am for preparation and a warm-up and then we’re on-water for about an hour.
Followed by breakfast at a local café.

Don’t worry if you have not paddled before, we make sure our new paddlers are looked after

What to Bring and Wear

Great attitude. You will get wet. It’s a water sport.
Wear shorts/leggings and a light-weight top which dries quickly (i.e., no denim or heavy material)
Water (in a plastic bottle with lid tight enough to keep out the yummy Brisbane River water)
Anti-slip shoes/sneakers/closed-in sandals suitable for water sports
Lightweight waterproof jacket if it’s cool, wet or windy
A cap/sunhat, and maybe sunglasses
Sunscreen
A towel and some dry clothes and shoes to change into afterward

And did we mention … bring a bottle of water to take with you in the boat.
