Dragons Abreast Canberra today said a sad farewell to one of our original paddlers – June McMahon. June joined Dragons Abreast in 1999, in the very first crew of DA ACT.
June’s sister Sue was on board with us on a particularly cold and wintery Canberra morning – June only stopped skiing in 2011, at the age of 75, so she would have appreciated the snow on the surrounding hills.
Anna made an impassioned speech, describing June’s friendship with Dragons Abreast, and her paddling prowess.
June was also an AusDBF official, as well as a CDBA official, so was known to paddlers around Australia.
