About us: Dragons Abreast Gippsland Waratahs was formed in 2010
· To raise awareness of the incidence of Breast Cancer.
· To provide facilities for the support of people during and after treatment for Breast Cancer.
· To promote the value of exercise, in the rehabilitation after Breast Cancer surgery.
· To improve and promote physical and mental wellbeing by participating in the sport of dragon boat racing
Since then, we have branched out further into the community and have members, male and female, survivors and supporters alike who are interested in the sport. Our membership at present is around 30. We welcome interested people over the age of 10 to come and try paddling with us. Please go online to register for a dragonpass, and one of our wonderful coaching staff will contact you.
Training Times
We train from Howitt Park, Bairnsdale (the boat ramp near the big yellow slide). The sessions last for about an hour.
Sunday at 9.30am for on the water by 10.00am
Wednesday (during daylight Savings) 5.30pm for on the water by 6.00pm
What to Wear and Bring
Water bottle
Secure hat and glasses
Sunscreen
Comfortable and loose clothing (you may get wet)
You may like to bring a change of clothes and a towel
