Kaaren Sutcliff’s book sales sponsor Dragons Abreast Australia and the McGrath Foundation. Kaaren is remembered as a consummate storyteller and elite sportswoman.
Kaaren joined DAA in 2019. During 2022-2024 Kaaren paddled harder and wrote four books as the going got tough. She paddled on the South Coast, in Melbourne, in New Zealand and in Canberra.
Her Mage and the Bird Caller trilogy fantasy tale released in 2022-2023 featured a feisty male dragon boat sweep/coach Lamiya as the lead character!
Book One – Undercover Mage – features a dragon boat festival and sets the scene for Lamiya’s dangerous romance with Mage Everand.
Book Two – Fugitive Mage – continues with a heady combination of dragons, romance, magic and dragon boating.
Book Three – Eminent Mage – brings more dragons, more twists and turns and more competition on and off the water.
Even if fantasy is not your genre you will enjoy these books with fiercely competitive dragon boat teams and some real river dragons. The trilogy captures the competition and the camaraderie of training and a great regatta.
Kaaren joined Angels Abreast soon after completing her final book in 2024.
This legacy novel Paddle. Live. Love will sit on the romance shelves in bookshops. It’s a moving, five chilli-laden sports romance that gives voice to people touched by breast cancer and celebrates the power of embracing second chances. Its hot!
Paddle. Live. Love is set in Narooma and is a work of auto-fiction. It features a visit to the first PPP event in Melbourne where Kaaren paddled ad was a guest speaker in 2022!
Kaaren entrusted fellow paddler and editor Kellie Nissan with editing her novel and helping her family and paddling community to publish and launch it. These books are available to order in book or e-version.
