Jan Caldwell Penrith
About Jan Caldwell
In June of this year (2020) our team, Dragons Abreast Penrith lost a much loved and treasured member of our group. Jan Caldwell was a long term survivor of Breast Cancer but she sadly lost her battle after a brief fight with Bowel Cancer.
Jan was a founding member of our small club and was loved by all who knew her. She was our coach, sweep, mentor and most of all our beloved Friend. Jan achieved so many milestones in her life, first and most important was her Family who she adored, her teaching, her artistic side painting, pottery and jewellery making and lastly her love of Dragon Boating and always promoting wellness through and after a Breast Cancer diagnosis. She represented Australia many times both here and Internationally and finally last year achieved what She described herself, as the pinnacle of her Dragon Boating career, She took our small team from Penrith to Canberra to the AusChamps and won medals in both the 500 and 200 meter categories, her last hurrah before retiring. Such a proud moment for All of Us never to be forgotten.
Jan’s passing leaves an unfillable gap in our small club, but treasured memories will keep Her with Us always in our hearts and in our boat.
Fly high our Beautiful Angel Jan and always we will remember your resounding voice calling to Us 💕💕“ PADDLES UP”💕💕
