Paula Bonython Port Lincoln
About Paula Bonython
Twenty third of June 2016 was a difficult day for Dragons Abreast Port Lincoln as we farewelled our dragon angel, Paula.
Our bright, bubbly member with an engaging smile and a sense of humour, always caring to all, might have been small in stature, but she packed a punch in personality.
Paula joined us 8 years ago, and rapidly integrated herself into the heart and soul of DAPL. She was secretary for 3 of those years. Her secretarial skills were second to none and she set the bar very high, through her professionalism, reliability and discretion.
She became our club photographer, capturing great memories at our many events, while as a paddler she was always happy to be on the water particularly when sea life accompanied us.
We acknowledge that breast cancer is an insidious disease and Paula fought it with everything she had. It is ironic that it should have been breast cancer that brought Paula to us and has now taken her away. She is an inspiration to her DAPL family and a reminder that life is so very precious.
You have not gone far Paula. Every time a cup of green tea appears at our table, every time we dot the eyes of the dragon, and every time our blades hit the water, you will be with us, carried securely in our hearts and memories.
DAPL is proud and privileged to have known Paula and to call her our “dragon angel”.
So, paddles up, Paula we salute you!
